Who else finds John Boorman's "Excalibur" to be an odd, yet oddly compelling movie?

Yep, me too... at least there's a handful of us. All these years later, I can still get thoroughly lost in Excalibur. The look and feel of the thing is magical, the casting was superb, and best of all, the film is unspoiled by formulaic Hollywood pretentiousness. It's easily still the best serious rendition of the Arthurian legend in film. And yeah, I had a kitty cat named Merlin =).
