American Girl in NYC for daughters 7th Birthday? need ideas on places/themes?

The American Girl / FAO Schwartz plaza is very very crowded. It is a HUGE tourist attraction. Maybe use it as a last resort? There are tons of other things to do in New York City by the way - it's the largest city in the US :D
