What kind of adhesive should I use to glue shells onto gl?

I'm going to jazz up a gl picture frame by gluing on seashells I picked up at the beach, and I'm wondering what type of glue would work best for these materials. Would hot glue hold well? It's a gift, so I'd like it to look nice and not fall apart after a few days.
