I'm confused about God being able to do anything?

The words "God can do anything" is an oversimplification of the facts for ease of explanation. The fact is that God is all-powerful, but He cannot deny His own character. God cannot lie because it is against His nature to do so. His righteous nature and His inability to be unrighteous are part of what makes Him so powerful.
