Has a spiritual Trojan Horse come into the Christian camp since the early 1800s in the form of Mormonism?

Well, it's hard enough to accept christianity. But I just don't get how anyone could get sucked in to a "religion", concocted by a convicted snake oil salesman, sitting on one side of a blanket, while someone writes down his ravings, much of which is directly plaguarised from the bible anyway. It must have been hard for him to stifle his laughter while he dictated it.
